James Manley's Lime Quarry.
Black Shale.
2 feet of blue limestone, fossils, dividing
into 1/6/s in layers. Also other mix
irregularly.
Black nodules + fritz teeth at upper third
down with upper chert nodules.
2 feet of limestone with chert at upper
and lower third of the limestone, which
part irregularly where the chert nod-
nules are. With fossils above, less below.
12 inches grey limestone with brachi-
pods + Beygra.
3 feet 4 in. grey limestone with few
brachiopods + chert nodules at base.
1 ft. 9 inches of grey limestone.
Wavy juncture.
10 ft (4 feet) of fine grained grey limestone
with fine banding like some of
the clung rock banding at Charles-
town. Looks argillaceous at least
distinctive. Burned for lime.
This layer was found to be 12 feet above
the creek at Oscar Case's quarry, an
eighth of a mile above the old Hackett
quarry.
