Maclan 1964 Journal Spent evening in fjords around Gasline Ridge. Saw ear-barks, phalaropes- perip. Came in when good enough from lift around 10:00 P.M. 9 August Barrow, Alaska Took some of AINA people out for big look at tundra in morning with Rich. Went out to Beach Ridge, near CRAS and tried to look at birds as they used film as fast as cameras would run. Afternoon escape alone to Pitelka's Plot - zero - then Holmes' Morass - roughly the same. Drove up close to owl, but couldn't get gun and self out hatch fast enough. Dissee - wonder of wonders- an immature white-rump, which was promptly dispatched. Also several black-bellies plovers, which weren't. Broke down and went to the movie in the evening - not too boo, either, then put up white-rump before retiring to write a letter. 10 August Barrow, Alaska Actually got something done today. Amazing.
