March 1964 Journal Childe, back from Peters. 5 August Barrow, Alaska More lousy weather - snow every day this month. Spent morning and early afternoon finishing up Mansay's birds, then went our briefly. Nothing! Weather must be keeping things down. Redbacks are now the only birds seen flocking. Now feeding along both wet and dry margins of ponds. Pectorals are alone - the only birds commonly seen with young - feeding in open water, pond margins, and wet tundra. Bairds are rare at best, as are semi-pals. Can't figure our what happens to the white-rump ?? and immatures ... they must be somewhere, but darend't if I know! All in all, things is extremely quiet right now. In the evening - Childe's seminar plus the Maler-Pitelka film. Interesting, especially the penguin pictures. Afterward, 'story as projection machine was out, He showed AEIIS and AET films. Afterwards, welcomes Teraza back in proper fashion. 6 August Barrow, Alaska Weather finally improving.
