MacLean 1964 Journal Golofinches in Albers, Arctic Ground Squirrels throughout area. Ate lunch in cannery mess hall, Then waited & while Murphy talked To owner about buying fish for animal food. No deal, so back to King Salmon. Once more saw numerous Ravens, calling in flight. Collected ground squirrel! Back at K.S.- transferred bear cubs to our cages, and took off for Barrow. Flew direct, and landed at 7:30. Moved bears to animal house, then ate dinner and wrote notes, then hit the rack. 28 July Barrow, Alaska A new record for the arctic slope - in a day.... 15 visits to the T-house (or the nearest substitute.) You might say the kid was having problems! In light of this, stayed within sprinting distance and tried to put up birds between trips. Manages to get 5 done.
