Journal weso (Epilobium sp.). Willow groves along river, streams, and ponds - dense growth to ca. 30 ft. - mostly willows with alder and birch. Muskeg - grasses to ca. 2 ft. on moss base. Collected Canada jay, unidentified sparrow and warbler from willows around pond, then walked through spruce forest and took another jay. Steve Hollands collected plants, and 2 bumblebees for Mike Miller; Roger Hedge just walked. Returned upstream at 7:30 A.M., and checked trapline. Zilah. Surprises me a little. Ate breakfast. Hen wandered around town and surrounding area, waiting for pilots to get motivated, then left for Bristol Bay Fisheries with Fish and Game man. Another chance to see area. Collected as 07 and 3 juv. Willow Ptarmigan in roost. Arrived at Red Salmon Cannery, and walked through it. Season has just ended, and cannery was not in operation. Saw numerous Western and California Gulls along shoreline of bay, white- crowned sparrows and American
