King Salmon, Alaska Peninsula, Alaska
Amazing! Waited around for
Max in the morning, but when he came
he didn't seem to feel like conversing, so
he kin buddy helped load the plane, and
at 11:00 A.M. found himself on the trip
ticket. Flew to Fairbanks to)
Uniat to let our Anderson party for
trip down Colville collecting mice, then
onto Fairbanks to let out our two P
visitors. Went out to college to get
a car, then into Fairbanks for lodge
run, back to airport, and off for
King Salmon. Flew past Mt. McKinley,
and got a few brief glimpses through
the clouds. Quite a chunk of land.
From the air, Southern Alaska looks
very much like Northern Alaska except
for the trees. Still much water,
little relief, and large marshy areas.
The trees are largely limited to river
valleys, etc.. Look like black spruce-
[Picea mariana].
Landed in King Salmon about 8:30 P.M.,
and were met by Chuck Luna - local
fish and game man. One of the bears
has cleaved its way out of the box he
was in, so we went down to riverbank
