Maclean 1966 around 80°. too hot! Drove into town to do some shopping for Harry Brower and Ed. Returned - power still off, and it remained off all evening. 28 August College, Alaska Up early, and power was back. Put vacuum system back in operation to finish drying birds, then started calorimetry using pellets. This solved the problem of incomplete explosions. Worked straight through with one meal break, and finished the last sample about 9:30 P.M. Today's results made it all worthwhile. Found Chironomus larvae of both types to be the lowest grade food; cardbip adults the most potent. Cleaned up the calorimeter, then drove out to the airport. Tom had flown down on the P4-D. (A good thing, as Wien missed the Pan-Am departure.) Talked with him and Chris Leydon, then saw them onto the plane and returned to the dorm.
