Maclean 1966 plenty of wood for fuel and houses, and plenty of game too. Saw several moose and buzzed a big brown bear in an open meadow. After a while went higher and flew on to down at Fairbanks after 8:00 P.M. By the time we had gotten Harvey's car, visited a few people, and either the only room available was at the Traveler's Inn at $18.00. Sorry, but I was too tired to care. 25 August Fairbanks to College, Alaska Woke feeling lousy from lack of food. After Breakfast and a few errands in town called Dr. George West at the Institute of Arctic Biology and he drove into town. Paul De Benedictis had beaten me there, and was with West. (He, too, had stayed at the Traveler's. The project Burger will suffer from that night.) Drove out to College and the new Institute building - tremendous facilities. The biology Department has one floor and the Institute another. West's lab is very well set up and equipped.
