MacLean 1966 Pitfall traps, in absence of checking, did very well - 5 Cardios and 6 Staphyliniis. So is time to begin working intensively on insect collecting. Spent evening in Barrow Village. 7 August Barrow, Alaska Spent the morning counting and cleaning yesterday's tanglefeet strips. Weather worse than yesterday - cold and foggy, with intermittent rain. Caught up on notes from Thompson and mailed film, waiting for weather to improve. It didn't. Went out to pitfall traps and found water in the bottom of the cans, with one miserable floating carbid. Something - probably a local dog - has been removing our carcasses set out to attract beetles. Finally gave up and spent the evening cleaning lab, writing notes, and redoing. 8 August Barrow, Alaska After a bad start weather finally began to improve. Drove over toward Voth Area and found cs. 60 phalaropes - aos. and immatures on ocean & and inler at mouth of Family lagoon. Some
