Machree 1966 trees to lab, then went ours again, past flock, to tanglefees. Baird still giving alarm by site I. Boards were quite clean this time. No bird activity evident in Central Marsh. In the evening walked our towards Birnirk, noting semi-pals along edge of Smith pole and the ocean. Reversed directions and went towards town. Again saw semi-pals by puddles and our lots of lagoons, streams, etc. into ocean. No vegetation in any of feeding places. 3 August Barrow, Alaska Spent the morning counting tanglefeet and processing semi-pal stomachs. After lunch Dr. George West of Laboratory of Zoophysiology, U.of A., showed up with Gessaman and we (West and I) had a long conversation regarding caloric work, possibility of fat extraction, and more. It appears that the best time for a trip down there will be around 20-25 August. then I can return here, accumulate more samples, etc., and stop off there for another day or so on the way south.
