appeared in good numbers - assuming I
haven't been misidentifying them
before. Very small - cd. 10 mm and
less. At least 3 recognizable species.
Spent the rest of the day talking with
Paul, back from Cape Thompson, and
on some badly needed catching up on
field notes. Finished day by removing
stomachs from birds brought in
Friday.

Barrow, Alaska
Cold rain all night long, and
a mean looking morning, with intermittent
rain.
[Interject: forgot to mention
yesterday - in checking for Carabids saw
a large number of Muscids - didn't look
like Spilogona - fully 1/2 of those
seen were copulating. More evidence
of synchrony in Arctic insects.]
Finally got around to answering
Brina Kessel and writing Pitelka,
then wrote May and July Progress
Reports. Somehow, that took up most
of the morning.
This afternoon tried to see Brewer
regarding personnel shift. Looked at
stomachs while waiting. As usual -
