MacLean 1966 Birnik. Overcast evening, and Eider flights was slow. Saw 2 murre fly by headed South West over open water. Came in when the rain started and after a cup of hot tea headed for home. 29 July Barrow, Alaska Woke up to a rotten rainstorm. this, however, ended about 9:00. Checked the pitfalls - 1 lousy cabin- then decided to take a chance and head inland. Weather tried to clear all day and almost made it. Drove Directly to Kruavik, Saw a clutch of 3 flightless jun. phalaropes on footprints lake. Area around Holmes Kruavik plot was almost- deserted - 1 pr. golen plover on the plot; nothing seen in wet stuff below. Just beyond the plot saw a group of 4 black-bellied plovers. Saw others in flight and occasionally on the ground. Drove to the head of Sungoovak L. around 15 miles South. Lots of flowers and saw (bur could not capture) 2 bumblebees.
