Meadow River to Barrow, Alaska
the ARL plane with Cliff
Alperfer arrived soon after our
late breakfast, while I was packing
up. Didn't really want to leave the
place - it is truly pleasant. Took
some meat for Jimmy Ledwitt's
family, Ray Spalook, and the Algeeks.
Beautiful, clear flying weather.
Saw another herd of 150-200 caribou on
the North side of the Inaru. No owls -
no Pomerines. Saw flocking shorebirds -
could not identify from the air.
Ran into fog just S. of Barrow Village,
and camp was cold + foggy.
Spent the afternoon counting
tanglefeet that Paul changed -
catch is way down. Tipulias have really
dropped our entirely. Cleaned and
re-glued the slats, then went out
to change them. Did not see much
bird activity - flock of golden plovers
on the North edge of Central Marsh-
but it was too late to spend much
time. Came in for a badly needed
shower and meal, then went into town
for the evening.
