Continued walking to bench along edge of large lake N W of camp. Temperature dropping fast. By lake saw congregations of snail shells; others live and eggs in lake. Semipalmated sandpipers were feeding along lake edge on wet benches. Turned toward river and saw a P pectoral acting "young-ilt"; watched her with no results. Saw pair of golden plovers with one young. Bar and watched a pair of arctic loons in the low sun, then returned for a late snack and bed. 24 July Meade River, Alaska Up for a return to blueberry pancakes - delicious. Wrote yesterday's notes, then loaded the boat with cameras, bug nets, off, Tom, Mike.... and chugged up the river to first big bend to the east. Stopped on the camp side of the river and walked the bluff. Not too much shorebird activity - a few Semi-pale. Red phalaropes,
