Mackean 1966 our what is happening in Bairdii. Spent the afternoon at a 3-hour nest watch and saw nothing - no nest reliefs or other birds consistently in area. Shot 2 birds off nests - 1♂, 1♀. Humm.... so far, resembles Terninki. After Dinner Drove out to area of Lewellyn's wier. Dropped tom at lines III + VIII on the way. Nest West of wier (#) was empty. Searched entire area for at least 1/4 mi. radius - found only 1 cleuth of red phalaropes and evidence of turnstones - no birds. Returned to nest and found 1 adult persistently by nest cup. Watched it >1/2 hr. - nothing. Walked with tom, who had joined us, towards Elson lagoon while Nika continued watch of nest East of wier. Weather getting cold, with a good West wind. Not much activity. As usual, birds seen were too concerned over our presence to feed. Found baird nest # again - bird still sitting. Left it unmisturbed and returned to the wier. Nika had seen no nest relief, etc., on his nest so we shot the bird - a ♂ - then drove in. Paul De Benedictus arrived at Barrow
