a call from Brina Kessel, U.S.A. After lunch took weasel into Browerville to pick up her and her sister, and returned them to the lab. She is expanding the central Alaskan bird guide to include Nome, Kotzebue, and Barrow and wanted information as to what can be seen here. Gave her one of Pitelka's maps and discussed local avifauna, then went out to AACS area to look around. Found a burst of semi-pal activity just W. of pipeline—probably non- or unsuccessful breeders beginning to congregate. Much incomplete display and one ground distraction display, but no territorial aggression among 6 birds in area of <1 acre. Continued along polygonal area looking at Baird's semi-pals, and turnstones. #5 Sandpiper still incubating, as was turnstone #4. Walked up to micro-mir but could not scare up any red-backs. All in all, I don't think she was too impressed by the Barrow bird life. I suggested that she include Browerville and Village Ridge areas as the recommended bird walk, as far as people care
