MacLean 1966 Walked along east edge of P's plot and saw loose flock of ca. 20 Pectorals. Nothing in main part of Holmes' Mores, then more pectorals (ca. 50) and a flock of golden Plovers (ca. 25) along Elson Lagoon. Flock of pectorals also included 2 reo-backs and 2 semi-pals. Discovered turnstone nests #1, 2, and 3 hatched or hatching; #2+3 cups empty and birds nearby; #1-2 young out, 1 pipping, I not yet started. Characterized nest habitats for these. Watched pectorals, plovers, and flocking P red phalaropes in Marasso, then met Mike at CREEK Wanigan and drove in. 4 July Barrow, Alaska Up for early breakfast, then out to Central Marsh with Tom. Weather rapidly clearing. Parked by Wohlsaq Crossing and walked along East bank of Central Marsh Creek. For about 1/2 mile - not a single shorebird, then located flock of at least 60 pectoralis feeding in marsh. Took feeding observations and watched style as much as grass permitted, then collected 5 birds. Returned as late
