MacLean 1966 played with the strips a while. Counting Collembolans is going to be a real problem. Went out to Duck Camp to get Edna, then spent the evening as a party in the ARC rec room. Good, lively party. Took her home too late. 3 July Barrow, Alaska Slept late — late indeed. Tried all kinds of approaches to the matter of counting and sub-sampling tanglefoot strips. Finally decided to estimate Collembolans and count everything else, and did so for these strips. I would rather use time on counting flying insects on another set of strips than playing with darn Collembolans. Next finished up all stomachs lying around the place and washed used masonite strips. This turned out to be the biggest problem of the whole deal. Ate an early Sunday dinner, then went out to the Funora with Niko. Left him on Pitzella's Plot, then went on to South End of plot and started walking. Carried the shotgun, but nothing close would pass. Weather cool, windy, and foggy.
