Mackan 1964 Journal 20 Golden Plovers. Collected 1 chick from each. Observed several clutches of Pectorals in marsh around fertilizer plot. In the evening put up day's chick harvest while scheming on 2 recent arrivals, ?? . Crossed up with stag impromptu happy hour. Barrow, Alaska 19 July Spent most of morning working on another owl skull and writing notes, then went out with Stevens on count to live plots. Got out at Gasline Ridge, and worked area S. and E. of ridge for afternoon. Collected another presumed ? White-camp, and observed feeding in marsh, and around polygons. Saw ? with 3 juv. buff- breasts ca. 1/2 mi. P. of nest. Another presumed ? near end of trapline 7. After showtime went out to check traplines- 5+6, 7+8, and 13+14. Impressed by possibility of using trapline data as index of shorebird habitat preference. Also hit upon idea of carrying a small spring scale with a net or some other device to weigh chicks in the field. Coulo
