Maclcan 1966 exploring, looking, taking a few feeding observations - even caught one bumblebee for Hurd. Fog came in in the evening and knocked visibility way down so we came in. Stopped to let off Eora and have some tea, then came in. 30 June Barrow, Alaska Pitelka's Departure Day. Spent the morning around the lab for last minute instructions, discussion, etc. After lunch went out with entire crew to check tanglefoot traps - they are doing great, so we'll continue these and add another series of 6. Niko then took off on his own while the remaining 3 walked through Micro-Mer marsh towards Drum area. The fog was rapidly closing in, making visibility poor. Found no pectorals, and not much of anything else. After a bit of searching located the sanderling nest with 4 sitting very tightly. Rewarded her efforts by leaving her undisturbed, and returned to Wedde. On the way verified Wesow's unfortunate report that baird nests by Micro-Mer have been lost to jaeger predation. This could
