Mackean 1966 put up a skin. Afterwards drove our Gaswell road with Tom. Weather still brisk and winy. Stopped at N. end of Footprint Lake and walked area West of road. Saw exactly 1 red back & also a pair of golden plovers. Drove out East of Lake and finally found a lone P. pectoral. He flew East, then this or another P. harassed a P. steadily for at least 15 minutes. Couldn't collect anything, so drove in. Found Niko watching a curlew sandpiper feeding v. rapidly on East side of both road, across from Cake Eater. Finally flew West and just kept going. Grabbed a quick shower and meal, then went into town for the evening. 27 June Barrow, Alaska Weather improving rapidly - the sun is out and the wind is reduced. Went out to (AACS) trap lines 9+10 with Pitelka and Tom, then wandered from there to Gasoline Ridge while they set traps. Got a few feeding observations, but we're reaching the time of year when we have to work for them. Saw one burst of Semi-pal display, and one of red back that was a little worked up over some thing. there are
