Maclenn 1966 took a welcome shower and grabbed a quick meal, then went into town. took a walk with my field assistant down Browerville Ridge to canal in village ridge, then S, along canal. Still much Semi-pal and Baird's activity- chasing and displaying. Heard 2 red- backed trills, but no full display. Not a pied-turd - heard or seen. Did hear Savannah Sparrow in full song, and saw 2 birds. Maybe they'll v85- worth checking later. Few more random thoughts about Meade River: (1) It is a heck of a good camp, and a good place to spend a summer; (2) the place really burst forth in bloom in the time I was there. Two spp. of Ranunculus, Pedicularis, Arctostaphylos - as well as several Salixes, Eriophorum, and a Carex came into flower, and green growth became evident. The bluffs, ridges, and dunes are noticeably green now.
