took a welcome shower and grabbed
a quick meal, then went into town.
took a walk with my field assistant
down Browerville Ridge to canal in
village ridge, then S, along canal. Still
much Semi-pal and Baird's activity-
chasing and displaying. Heard 2 red-
backed trills, but no full display. Not
a pied-turd - heard or seen. Did hear
Savannah Sparrow in full song, and
saw 2 birds. Maybe they'll v85-
worth checking later.
Few more random thoughts about
Meade River: (1) It is a heck of a good
camp, and a good place to spend a summer;
(2) the place really burst forth in bloom
in the time I was there. Two spp. of
Ranunculus, Pedicularis, Arctostaphylos -
as well as several Salixes, Eriophorum,
and a Carex came into flower, and
green growth became evident. The bluffs,
ridges, and dunes are noticeably green
now. Enough - I'll think of more tomorrow.
