observations. He has not bothered to
take timed counts on any birds, and
this disturbed me. The timed counts
are important, and will be more
important when the birds shift
more towards surface feeding. I was
able to demonstrate the importance on
several birds we watched today, so

Otherwise, a very pleasant
morning. Wind now blowing pretty
well, but warm. Walked to end of
Village Flats (so named), then along
sandy ridge to large lake, and across
large, gently sloping Eriophorum-Carex
meadow to camp. This latter looks
like Red-back area, and Paul
says they are as dense here as
anywhere. That was not too
dense - perhaps 1 pr. per 400 m. of
walking.
