birds, and this was a big help. All but Westerns appear to be about at the laying stage - a moderate amount of display, but not much actual interaction. In Westerns there was one display bout involving 5 birds, and several active chases. Later saw 3 pectorals chasing a ♀, with an active battle on the ground when it ensued, all in all - no big surprises in the shorebird department - fewer birds than I had hoped, but enough to let us know what is going on - as I'm sure Paul's notes (if not feeding observations) will reveal. As for other observations: almost no microfie sign; found a Parasitic Jaeger nest with two eggs. Dark phase ♀ and lighter ♂ both gave persistent ground distraction displays - no bombing. Black-bellied plovers along a few dry ridges - noble birds. After a good dinner went upstream and across the river with Ray & palook and his son to collect some birds for comparison of stomach contents with Barrow birds. Went about 1 mile up, around first part of the big bend. Semi-pals were spaced out closely along the bluff by the river. Territories
