Maehan 1966 here, so Pitelka returned to Voth Area. Continued on ridge and ran into a very active group of at least 7 bairds - 7 were seen flying at once in communal chase. Covered area from Village Lagoon to Village Ridge. Collected 4 - unfortunately all 07, t = 9 + 10 mm. Found a 4 egg red-back nest near shore of village lagoon. Walked back to Voth Area and watched a 07 sandpiper displaying. Took some feeding observations, then joined Niko and walked in. In the evening drove out to Beach Ridge with Pitelka and Niko. Heard, nearly simultaneously, song of red-back, Semi-pal, baird, golden plover, and 1 each pectoral and white rump. First time this year that all have been heard. Weather was now cold - about freezing, but little wind. I stayed to collect feeding observations while the others drove on to area West of Micro-met. After the initial burst of activity things calmed down, and observations came slowly. Walked toward C + q S, but was stopped by slush in deep ditch across ridge. For the first time one can walk
