MacLean 1966 town and spent the evening socializing, then walked home in more warm, clear weather. Old squaws were seen in good numbers for the first time on the way home, and sandpipers were in good voice. Made it a pleasant walk. June 13 Barrow, Alaska In the morning drove out to Coke-Ester and walked from there to village ridge collecting feeding observations. Baird's were very active - chasing in pairs and groups of up to 6 and displaying. Looked like a group recently arrived and now dispersing. Pair of Golden Plovers acted nest-ish just West of Coke-Ester. Phalaropes in good numbers - got some feeding observation. In returning to the weasel, stumbled upon a Curlew sandpiper feeding in disturbed ground on S. side of Voth road. Watched him a while, then lost him, and came in. After lunch went out to Village Ridge with Pitelka to collect. Melt off is going along rapidly, and remaining snow is all slush. Makes travel difficult. On ridge Semi-pals were less conspicuous than previous trips
