Maclean 1966 in warm, overcast weather. Didn't see much on the way in. Walked down the Browerville ridge towards Voth Area with Edna. Crest of ridge is mostly clear except for deep snow filled gullies running toward village lagoon. Very good Semi-pal activity here. Birds appeared mostly settled and paired, with some territorial chasing going on. Several pairs of Turnstones - one good territorial scrap out over lagoon. Have to walk this again and more actively collect data. this is, if nothing else, a good waterfowl year. Except for Steller's Eiders - everything is around in numbers. Several flights of Pintails today, and Common Eiders as well as Kings. Snow Geese, white-fronts, and brants all seen today. 11 June Barrow, Alaska Walked out through Drum Area to Beach Ridge. Drum Area is exceptionally slow in coming out this year - only scattered polygon tops are exposed. Good semi-pal activity, but of an early sort - much dispute over boundaries, display.
