Mackean 1966 Shorebirds — 1 pair of turnstones, 1 pr. of golden Plovers, and about 20 red-backs. It appeared that a new group had moved in or about 3 pairs of settled birds. Collected 4 and watched awhile, then came in and showered. After dinner went to town, then came back and worked on specimens — today's stomachs, etc.. 10 June Barrow, Alaska Looked at stomachs of yesterday's ♀ Longspurs — more overlap, even Tipula larvae! Should have looked at these birds before. Afterwards went out to Voth Area to check progress. Weather greatly improved — temp. > 40°, and raining quite heavily for June. this should melt some snow. Saw a ♂ pectoral with well developed throat sac across from FAA — a welcome sight. Hope more are coming soon. Redbacks in Voth area are still not sorted out; In the afternoon went ♂ with Pitelka and Nika first to N. end of P's Pilor. That was the most discouraging moment of the summer thus far.
