After dinner looked at stomach of
orange-crowned warbler Pitelka took from
his plot. Full of all sorts of goodies -
all upland stuff. If a busy warbler
can do it, the sandpipers sure should
be able to!
Went our Voth Road - weather
getting colder and windier. About 32°
now. Saw first white-rump in
Britton's Area - 1 bird with group of
red-backs. 13 red-backs - flying actively
as cohesive flock - very little display
activity. Best display came from pair
of turnstones. Checked exposed area
by W. shore of Honeybucker Lagoon -
1 turnstone and a quieter pair of red-
backs. On to Cake Eater area for only
activity of evening, and that wasn't much.
1 ♂ alpina was excited - chasing a ♀ and
(later) a ♀, and giving ground display.
3 ♂ semi-pals were performing, but no
interaction. Pair of turnstones in area,
Turnstones, at least, are up this year.
Hopefully - the other species are just
waiting for good weather. All in all -
it was another quiet night. Quit when
the fog rolled in.
