Maclean 1965 Journal Returns via village to lot of pax, and finally hit the rack about 1:00 A.M. 26 July Barrow, Alaska Hell with it; I'm not going to get up! Went out to C+G.S. to change records at 2:00, then returned to work to make up time misses in the morning. Spent the evening processing birds shot yesterday. All are non- breeding or have finished breeding. 27 July Barrow, Alaska Out to C+G.S. for records change, then continues across Woldslag Slough to bring in some owls to satisfy Brewer. Could only find one clutch of 3 between Woldslag and Okpik Slough. Took 1. I refuse to steal more than 1 from a clutch. Chased flock of ca. 15 black-bellied plovers without ever getting closer than 150 m. Went back way to East Gasline Ridge, seeing negligible shore birds. Took 1 owl, not too far from flying, here.
