Maclean 1965 Journal 22 July Barrow, Alaska Started out towards Nico. Mar, then went along North side of beach ridge and into area NE of C+G.S. Last year this was a good area, especially around hatching time. Not this year. Searches Paws site low polygons with similar results. Finally threw in the towel and came in. After dinner tried to sit through Lolita but couldn't hack it. Walked out, then waited for P.B.H. and went out to check lines I & II. Saw some eiders flying over, but not much on the ground. Flock of 12 golden plovers in Hamilton's Enigma - too restless to ger close. Flock of ca. 15 smaller birds loosely associated with Plovers - probably semi-pals. Likewise to restless to approach. Started in, and found track has separated. Managed to nurse it back at 2 mph, picking up two ulcers en route. 23 July Barrow, Alaska Mechanics broke the track before reaching the shop! So don't give us any more heat about weasels. Do
