MacKen 1965 Journal gone and..... 18 July Barrow, Alaska Went out to Duck camp early To see what passes by. Weather cold, Foggy, and getting worse. Visibility was all to pot, making duck hunting and Bird watching both difficult and unproductive. Saw few flocks of Common & king ciders, several loons, Hass' all. Came back in rain, which continued all evening. Wrote a few notes, then read for remainder of evening. 19 July Barrow Alaska Rain continued so put in some extra administrative time. Paul + Bob went out late in afternoon and had weasel trouble, leaving us without transportation for evening. No loss- weather continues too rotten for constructive work. 20 July Barrow, Alaska Walked out through drum area and caught up with Bob & Paul setting trap lines 9 + 10. Helped here, then went out to help set lines 1 + 2. Found Plow nest here has latched. Only one chick seen. Too bad nest was new
