trash and garbage of the immediate
Barrow area. The difference in
psychological climate is tremendous!
Drove across Footprint Lake, then
past South end of Hecavik and eventually
stopped by N. end of Holmes plot. Our
density here is about like camp area-
found two nests with young. Photographed
one nest. Hard to evaluate jaguar density,
since they are everywhere spotty. Appears
to be less than camp area. Reo-backs
appear abundant on plot, pectorals
here and there, none often seen. Saw
Arctic loon nest of 2 eggs. Was
greatly impressed by lack of Longspurs
here. Futzers around plot, looking for
place for waniigan (always thinking
ahead!). Decided upon raised ground
off S. end of plot, if possible. Sure
would be nice.
Heared over for site of St. Sabine
Gull colony. Saw birds flying around,
could not locate colony. Believe
it has moved, although I could have been
in wrong spot. Continued towards S.
end of lake - not too much. Found Stella's
Eider nest, and photographed it. Saw 3
eggs just SW of Footprint Lake on
