Pitelka departure day. too bad; I
enjoyed his visit this time. 3 p.m. afternoon
in lab cleaning up last year's trapline
slabbird kill. Enables me to reestablish
identification of slabbird young - will
help when birds start coming out. Preserves
all stomachs and enteric records of kill.
Briefly discusses remains of season, but
not enough time for complete conference.
Went in to plane with Pitelka and
slipped our Ray Stensell's suitcase as
part of his baggage. Made it without any
excess baggage charge. Returned to camp
lake and grabbed some chow, then
wrote notes and read before packing
out.

Her Mr. + Mrs. G. Dusky Ross - big
time bird watchers from Penna. (claim to
be 200 in nation in North American spp.
seen), and friends of Dick Holmes'. Took
them to lunch, then out to the tundra in
miserable weather. They were primarily
interested in spectacle and Stellar's
Egrets. Took care of Stellar's with no
problem, but no luck on Spees. Went
out to Voith Area - dowitchers still there
