Maclan 1965 Journal show any initiative - such things as getting field glasses, directing attention in the field, or asking questions. For instance, I pointed out a jaeger settling brood patches over eggs. He nodded - yes, yes. After a delay, I asked if he knew what brood patches are. He said no. Yet he hasn't queries when I mention them previously. All in all, not a bad trip but a long way to go. Found jaeger nest in AACS marsh- two eggs. Clark's pectorals - seem to be less birds, and less reproductive activity. Only 1 courtship chase - 4♂ + 1♀. Continues through upper Micro-Mer marsh - found larkspur nest w/ 5 eggs. No shorebird activity. Checked Haybuck lagoon owl nest, then circles back toward micro-mer. Found golde plover nest w/ 4 eggs in polygons ca. 250 m. W. of micro-mer; jaeger nest w/ 2 eggs on S. side of gas line near wanigan. Checked red-backed nest - 4 eggs. Pleased through marsh and in. Finding many plovers nests now - much more numerous in lowlands than an early exposed ridges. Ca. 50% of
