Barrow, Alaska Went our to Pitelka's Plot in cold, dense ground fog. Stopped at N. end; Hamilton went NE, I cut straight across Holmes' Morass towards Elson Lagoon. Morass is still 99% snow covered, and devoid of bird life save jaegers. Area near Elson Lagoon is still opening up. Many more phalaropes here than before. Otherwise, 1 pr. goldenplovers, 1 pair pecterals, 1 pr. turnstones, few territorial and non-territorial redbacks. Collected feeding observations and found two jaeger nests. Saw pair of spectacled eiders down on pond in Morass - first I've seen close up on ground. Wrote notes during movie, then took Hamilton and DeBenedict's out to where I has seen spees. They are no longer here. Fog has disappeared, leaving beautiful clear but cool and windy weather. Found 3 jaeger nests and observed slabsbirds, then came on in. 23 June Barrow, Alaska Our with Pitelka to Voth area to collect Caliornines for breeding
