Maclean 1965 Journal Founds a few shorebirds in area S. of Central Marsh, and observes, then to latitude of Ookpik Slough for owl check. Founds 1 new nest to fill hole, then came in. Spent the evening at the cinema - Placeria - then writing field notes. 21 June Barrow, Alaska Took off right after early lunch for aerial scan of area. To soon became evident from jaeger concentrations that denning high is a local phenomenon. Goes jaeger density to region of Bungoook Lake; Morrake density to Shamu, very sparse thereafter. Founds jaegers sparse but regular along coast to Wainwright, with local concentration at Wainwright. To Cast - numbers goes from Iko Bay to Pow; very low East of Iko Bay. Snow cover from the air was truly impressive - ca. 80%. Can't blame the shore birds for not wanting to stay! In the evening walked out through drum area to marsh N. of micro-met.
