MacLean 1965 Journal period observe carefully notes location. At conclusion of 5 x 30 sec. observation observer characterizes habitat for each observation, and records. If bird 10 ft. flies before 5 are completed, observe characterizes habitat for each complete observation, then begins another series on same bird or moves to another bird. Maximum of 5 series (series = set of observations ending with 5 x 30 sec. period or flight) for any one bird. If bird flies during 30 sec. observation period record. (noting time observed) if over 15 sec; discard if under 15 sec.. This method will allow quantified observation of feeding technique, which was never achieved last year. I think it will be an improvement, although only application can tell for sure. Definition of habitat will be essentially as last year, with slight changes, and new symbols in recording. This is to be worked out maƱana, as none of us could stand more bickering over this whole thing now.
