Moorean 1965 Journal and found 6 eggs + 1 pink, downy chick in first snowy owl nest. Seems strange, since owls are still courting and jaegers are not even down to territories. That early melt could have triggered owls early, creating an abnormal spread in preyitor breeding chronology. Returns home just in time for dinner. Later, discusses shore bird feeding program, and + agrees upon method, as follows: When a shorebird is sighted feeding an immediate mental note is made of location. Observer then attempts to maneuver into favorable observation position. If bird flies at this time, the character of location where bird was feeding is recorded, and observer moves on to another bird. Even the flying before detailed observation, the bird has supplied a useful datum - one observation of feeding in a certain habitat. If bird remains after observer has reached favorable [illegible] observation point, observer carefully notes feeding style (i.e.-peck, jab, probe, or mixture thereof), then begins a 30 sec. count of feeding motions. 30 sec. counts are repeated to maximum of 5 unless bird flies 10 ft.. During each 30 sec.
