Maclan 1965 Journal along edge of Holmes' Morass. Loose flock of 25+ redbacks plus several dispersed redbacks. Several pairs golden plovers. As Pitelka waited to go in, fours pair of sandliligs feeding on high grounds, 1 st pectoral, and hear bird's. In the evening discusses feeding program with entire group, making major alterations. Will attempt sequential 5 seconds feeding observations. [I will save detailed description until final method has been determined.] Melt off is continuing at a rapid rate - the rivages are ca. 66% exposed now, and even parts of Central Marsh are appearing. Barring a change in the weather, the season may catch up with itself. To remains to be seen what the delay will do to shorebird populations. Saw quick a few lamming today - most since 23-24 May when the turnara first emerges.
