Maclean 1965 Journal overcast, color. 7 June Barrow, Alaska Saw flocks of 6 c7o7 and 5 c7a + 1♀ king Eiser flying SW over camp area. Apparently have completed their task and begun "fall" migration. 10 June Barrow, Alaska Delivered parents to plane leaving South last night, then worked to clean desk of paperwork. This afternoon spoke with Brewer regarding more time for field work. His receptiveness to the idea surprised me: Even I volunteered to release time without rescuing pay. Spoke with Pitelka and he advised I press for ½ released time. I'm not sure if I have the nerve to ask for it - will find out tomorrow. Went out with Pitelka and Paul De Benedietis - new bird-type assistant. He has much birdwatching experience and seems to know the beasts very well. Should be a big help. Saw flock of ca. 18 Pomerian Jaegers - SE corner of central marsh. Another flock of ca. 20 on N. side of
