MacLean 1965 Journal prestas. No shorebirds, and only a few longspurs and buntings. Checker owl nest #1 - still healthy, w/ 7 eggs and two lemmings. Owl nest #3 still has 3 eggs, ♀ sitting happily. Maybe that will be all. Dear least weasel by nest, still completely white! Owl nest #2 now has 7 eggs. Morkan is with sharpt stake. Looked for piles of lemmings where seen previously - no luck. No shorebirds seen in this area either. Met Dr. Pitselka and spoke briefly, then drove in past nest #1. Parents seemed impressed by turnip, lemmings, etc. Wish I could have shown them shorebirds. They were bothered by cold, which limited hiking cross-country. 6 June Barrow, Alaska Saw flock of ca. 20 curvy Turnstones flying actively around camp dump or way into town.
