MacLean 1964 Journal 3 thing is done. Spent all morning and afternoon writing. Pikelka arrives on the afternoon flight, which event Brewer celebrated in due style. After dinner went out with Holmes and Pikelka for a quick look, then returned and typed till I fell asleep on the typewriter. 13 June Barrow, Alaska Praise de Loro, I'm done, free, and graduated. Finished the thing and delivered it in person to some Fairbanks bound passengers at the air strip. Celebrated by walking back around Fresh Lake. Found two Semi-Pal rests, probably contiguous, 4 eggs each. Much activity of a calidorin species in marsh E. of Fresh Lake. Returned for dinner, then went out and spent the evening in the drum area. I seem to be somewhat lacking direction, not knowing exactly what I'm trying to do. Must attack problem systematically. 14 June The day of the big think. Spent the morning in the drum area testing the feasibility of certain methods of approaching the problem of shorebird ecology. Came back and wrote down some ideas, discussed some with Holmes, contemplated more over a pile of peat lemmings - definitely conducive to creative thought, worked
