Maclean 1964 Journal 14 Old Squaws land on S. Meadow Lake. Lake now 75% ice covered, with ice 2" thick near SW shore. Several Pomarine Jaegers - adult and juvenile - seen. Flock of crows 44 flew over. Found large 4 Dicrostonyx , 3 Lemmus in 7 traps still out. Owl still E. of Beach Ridge, offers by gasoline. 16 September Barrow, Alaska On way into village, saw several very large flocks (ca. 250 ea) of Old Squaws. One flock on water (ocean) ca. '14 miles out from village, another flying over same spot. Another flying S, closer to camp. Group of 3 Sabine gulls flying south along coast. Several Glauous gulls, also, flYing nondirectionally along coast; ca. 20 at dump in lagoon. Lagoon now ca. 80% frozen. A few 250 phalaropes along shore. 19 September Barrow, Alaska Into village - still Glauous gulls at dump and along coast; 1 flock of c.a. 100 Old Squaws on ocean out from village.
