trying to elbow their way into a ledge that couldn't possibly support another bird - and often as not wake it! Murres were more active and vocal than puffins, which mostly sat quietly on the larger rocks. Didn't see any puffin nests - would like to. Finally quit and walked home for dinner. Spent evening putting up sundry skins, including raven collected on the way back from bizo cliffs. 17 August Cape Thompson, Alaska Mornings are for sleeping! In the afternoon, moved traps over to yesterday's canyon. I saw M. oceanus in old spot - surprise! Hope these get sampin. After setting traps continued on with Rick down to bizo cliffs. Discovered here's two spp. of murres Here. Slot zone, and discovered we had both common and thick-bills. Mine are all common - have to go back for thick-bills. Blue acuppla easy shots at a passing tuffee - one of about 3 seen. Took a few homers, threw the whole mess in my pack, and struggled up the hill. Checked the traps - zilch! Drove
