160 12. An eighth of a mile down stream the Coniferous rests on the Madison at 848. The top 4 inches contain LS lignite, the rest is very Madison like. The Coniferous 9ft thick, Black Shale. The dip is quite strong southward, more than the levels here green indicate. 13. Black Shale 9os Coniferous slightly 10ft. estimated. Bentrites modolata + Calmon wjena in brown Silurian below + below the marine fossils. The brown Silurian dips more sharply southward than the Coniferous or that at the most southern extreme SE 161 y of the road (14) the Calmon jena bed is just below this Coniferous while farther southward it is 8 feet or more below the Calmonjena bed and at 12 it will be remembered the Con. was in the weeping Madison. 15 Brown Black Shale 960 Coniferous, thick, Rests on brown Sil. of and the Madison beds ½ mi. westpike Strong E dip of Madison shown further E at IV side of road 9. 962 Brown Black Shale
