JS Brode 1934 July 27 continued and a frog while setting traps. Some of the traps were set in Microtus runways in moist boggy grass near the lake some were set in near by woods and some in open clear areas. Gopher sets were made near the lake. July 28 Three Peromyscus were found in traps in the cleared area; Nine Microtus were found in the Microtus runways; Here were also found two Lones vagrans, in the wooded portion collected later in the morning was an Eutamais Two Thomomys quadratus were found in the sets. I tried to shoot some gray ground squirrels but failed to bag them, then I am certain that I hit several, judging from the bloodstreams leading to their burrows down which they seemed to have tumbled. We then returned to 2 mi. N W Meacham, 3600 ft., Umatilla Co., Ore. where three Thomomys quadratus were taken from sets placed here. Returned to Pendleton, Oregon. I had planned
