Itinerary
2 mi NW Meacham, 3600 ft., Blue Mts.,
Umatilla Co., Oregon
July 26 Set 55 traps (mouse) and 8 sets for gophers
in Boy Scout Camp grounds a short
distance from Ensignant Springs
State Park. The area included
some Second growth timber-
(white fir, lodge pole pine, tamarack,
douglas Fir), in which some of the
traps were placed. The larger portion of the area
was open covered only
with a few low shrubs and willows.
July 27 Found one Peromyscus in a
trap placed near an old cabin in
a trap and during the day
four Eutamias
were caught in traps left out but
were not in usable condition because
extreme heat. I shot one squirrel
and from
gopher trap two Thomomys quadratus
were taken. Left 20 traps set out and went to
Mecham Lake, 3800 ft., Blue Mts., Umatilla Co.
Set out 5 [illegible] traps and ten gopher sets
saw many bats and a number of toads.
