Brode 1934 Thomomys quadratus July 12 Cat Creek, 8900 ft., Mt Grant, Mineral Co, Nevada Traps set by Hall and Brode yielded several in A.M. gophers at noon and several more at evening. July 13 Took one specimen from this locality, a flat mountain meadow very much over grazed. In part of the meadow the soil was soft; in a part it was rather hard and covered with sod. In the soft soil the Tunn- els were large; in the sod covered harder soil the tunnels were smaller in diameter. Whether this was due to greater economy of effort in hard soil on part of gopher or whether in soft soil the walls constantly enlarge of their own accord and [illegible] the debris so formed removed is an interesting speculation. July 13 Lapon Canyon, 8900 ft., Mt. Grant, Mineral Co, Nev. Took five specimens during the day from traps set near camp about a sod covered bog July 14 Took two more specimens from sets in same area used yesterday. July 17 Cottonwood Creek, 7700 ft., Mt. Grant, Mineral Co Nev Caught a small gopher in moist soil not far from a small spring green.
