Microtus montanus
July 14 [illegible], 8900 ft., Mt. Grant, Mineral Co. Nevada.
caught two specimens in runways
in a grassy bog near placer mine.
Some of the runways showed Microtus
signs and had bits of cut grass. Some
of them were in wet ground and
some of were in higher sod. Set 4 trap,
but only two Microtus fell victims
in my traps. These specimens were
nearly black. (Specimen of tall grass found
in this bog saved and under date of
March 19, 1935 - identified by D. H. L. Mason
as Poa scabrella - EHW March 21, 1935)
